KUALA LUMPUR, May 27 (Bernama) — Taxi service provider Big Blue Taxi Facilities will launch the ‘Big Blue’ application much like the Uber and GrabCar applications to help taxi drivers generate more income and be more competitive.
Its advisor Datuk Shamsubahrin Ismail said the application will be launched in October and the public can download it from ‘Google Play Store’ for Android hand phones and ‘Apple Store’ for IPhone users.
“The application costs almost RM700,000 and is meant to help taxi drivers reclaim their right as well as improve the quality and service of taxis which have been trivialised by the society,” he said at a media conference to announce the application here today.
He said the application had its own unique features which were different from Uber and GrabCar, including a panic button for the public in the event of misconduct by the driver or an unfortunate incident.
“The panic button will connect directly with the local authorities and is a safety measure in the application,” he said.
Meanwhile, Shamsubahrin also urged the local authorities as well as the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) to ban Uber and GrabCar taxi companies.
“This must be done, so far no action has been taken by SPAD and their taxis are free to carry on their activities and disrupt the income of registered taxi drivers,” he said.
