Taxi company, Tom Manas Hijrah Travel Sdn Bhd has issued a demand to UEM Land Holdings Sdn Bhd for 7 million ringgit due to what it claims as a breach of contract.
The taxi company’s advisor Datuk Shamsubaharin Ismail said UEM had illegally terminated the contract which allowed the company to ferry passengers from the Puteri Harbour Ferry Terminal in Nusajaya, Johor.
According Datuk Shamsubaharin, he had tried to contact UEM Holdings many times but failed to get a response forcing him to submit the claim two days ago.
He claimed that after a month of operations, the taxi drivers under Tom Manas were barred from taking any more passengers at the ferry terminal.
Datuk Shamsubahrin said that UEM then awarded the contract instead to a group of companies, identified as the Coalition Executive Taxi Drivers and Budget Taxi Johor Bahru.
Datuk Shamsubahrin also alleged that the other companies that replaced Tom Manas is not registered with the Registrar Of Societies, ROS.
He said that besides lodging several police reports, their grouses have also been brought to the attention of the Land Public Transport Commission SPAD this morning.
Datuk Shamsubaharin hoped that the matter can be resolved amicably, as soon as possible.
There are some 160 taxi drivers registered with Tom Manas at the Puteri Harbour Ferry Terminal.
